Pixels to Inches Calculator
Pixels have no fixed physical size; it depends on the resolution in pixels per inch. Enter pixel dimensions and a PPI to get the size in inches or centimeters — for example, how large a photo will print at 300 PPI.
- Height
- 11.25 in
- Size of one pixel
- 0.2646 mm

- Enter the width and height in pixels.
- Enter the resolution: 96 for screens and CSS, 300 for quality print.
- Read the physical size, and switch the unit to cm or mm if you need metric.
Worked examples
1920 × 1080 px at 96 PPI: 20 in × 11.25 in (0.508 m × 0.28575 m)
- Width
- 20 in
- Height
- 11.25 in
- Size of one pixel
- 0.2646 mm
3000 × 2400 px printed at 300 PPI: 10 in × 8 in
- Width
- 10 in
- Height
- 8 in
- Size of one pixel
- 0.0847 mm
Which PPI to use
On the web, CSS defines 1 inch as exactly 96 pixels, so 96 is right for layout work. For print, 300 PPI is the usual standard for photos and documents viewed at arm’s length; 150 PPI is acceptable for posters seen from farther away. 72 PPI is an old convention that still appears in image software defaults.
How large can I print?
Divide each pixel dimension by 300. A 12-megapixel photo (4032 × 3024) prints at 13.4 × 10.1 inches at full quality. A 1920 × 1080 image manages only 6.4 × 3.6 inches at 300 PPI.
