Formula
Yearly PTO hours = PTO days × hours per day
Accrual per pay period = yearly PTO hours ÷ pay periods per year
Future balance = current balance + accrual × pay periods − hours taken

Accrual caps and carry-over
Many policies stop accrual once your balance reaches a cap, or let only part of it roll into the next year. If your projected balance is above your employer’s cap, the real figure will be lower — plan time off before you hit it.
